On a Year of Blogging

Moonlight-and-sims-first-blogoversary

On the third of June, 2013, a rather hesitant and timid blog called Moonlight and Sims saw its very first post go public. This is what I wrote back then,

in English:
When I was thinking about creating this blog, I found myself debating which language to use for it. In the end, I've decided to stick to English (I hope I can cope with the language barrier on a full basis), but I've also decided, in a sort of compromise, to translate into Spanish my own stories; at least, this is what I'll be doing with A Pair of Brown Eyes, which is the one I'm currently working on, and see how it turns out.

Hmmm, not bad at all. So far, so good.

But there was a number of things this hesitant and timid blog didn't know on that late spring day. Or, perhaps it wasn't the blog at all, but its author and administrator who felt hesitant and timid; it's sometimes difficult to tell them apart ;-).

What it (alright, I) didn't know was that I'd be writing this entry, one year afterwards sharp, and that all the thrill I felt upon beginning this exciting journey would be intact.

Nor did it know (I should say I again) that I would be writing this entry backed up by my 61 Blogger friends--I'd rather call you friends than followers--, 25 Wordpress friends, over 18000 views and nearly 900 comments.

If you're reading this, you'll very likely have noticed I've given the blog a complete makeover to celebrate the occasion. Come on, feel free to take a look at my new sidebar, and give the freshly created social icons (by me) a hover or two to make me happy; you don't even have to click on them if you don't feel so inclined.

And just one last thing: as I already announced in my All things evolve post, there are going to be some changes, the first of which is that I've joined The Classics Club, which is nothing but a great blog on a mission: namely, to challenge its members to read (more) classics and write about them. If you want to see my list of books, I've set up a new page for that purpose on the far right of my tab. Additionally, the new "Featured posts" section in my sidebar will help you keep track of what's going on in my blog so you won't miss a chapter of A Pair of Brown Eyes ;-) or any other thing you might be interested in.

THANK YOU ALL FOR ACCOMPANYING AND SUPPORTING ME THESE LAST TWELVE MONTHS! :'-)

  7. Congrats on one year! You deserve to celebrate because you and your story are wonderful! :D I'm so glad you decided to start posting despite feeling timid about it. I think some of the fear(for me at least) is in the fact that a writer puts their heart into the story; not just in effort but in some of the feelings and thoughts that come through. It's very scary to put your heart up for judgement but it is worth it in the end. :D
The new blog look is very nice and I'm looking forward to your next chapter!

    1. Definitely! I face many fears when it comes to writing, but the greatest and scariest is the one you just described. But, it's what needs to be done if you don't want your story to end up sounding "fake", so it's very well worth the effort!

Thanks for your kind words and your honesty :-D.

  12. Hey Marta! Congratulations on one year of your blog! It is a lovely feeling, isn't it? I recently had a one year mark on my legacy story, and it was heartwarming.
I'm certainly grateful that I found your story, by way of when you followed one of mine. I was clicking on my friends' pictures and seeing what works they were busying themselves with, and I came across this. :) I am so glad I did.
*clinks glass* May you and your blog continue to entertain me in the days, months, years to come. :)

  13. Hola Marsar, felicitaciones por tu primer año!
    Casi casi compartimos aniversario.
I think that I am not still able for writing in english, but I understand everything (well, almost). As I want to improve my english, I write these few words.
    :)

And so good of you to want to improve your English!

  16. Feliz aniversario Marsar!!!!
